Club Active is the brainchild of Jonathan Freeman and was borne from a need to offer a high service multidisciplinary health and wellness centre for those who wish to change the way they age.

Club Active provides a facility where people can feel comfortable exercising in a safe, caring and fun environment under the expert guidance of Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs). Whether you need rehabilitation from injury or chronic health conditions, wish to get more active and enjoy life, or want to maximise your body’s full potential Club Active will help you achieve your goals.

The goal of Club Active is to offer a truly holistic health and wellness solution incorporating physical, mental and social health. This is achieved by offering a range of allied health services, fully equipped interactive gym, group fitness classes, activities area, lifestyle workshops and members lounge to unwind and chat after your workout.

Managing Director, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Founder and managing director of Club Active, Jono is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and a specialist in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

He is also the creator of the Foam Rolling App and author of The Complete Guide to Foam Rolling. Jono is an international presenter and has featured in many fitness and health publications. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classes and programs developed at Club Active.

Josh Clack

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Josh Clack is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Club Active. He has spent the last three years working locally with JF Health and Performance helping people with chronic disease and pain. He is committed to delivering evidence-based exercise interventions tailored to each of his clients. Josh employs exercise in the treatment of various chronic health conditions ranging from musculoskeletal dysfunctions right through to mental health conditions.

Josh completed his studies at Griffith University with a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Bachelor of Business in 2012. Following this, Josh completed his postgraduate studies in Exercise Science, receiving an Academic Excellence Award.

On the weekend you will find Josh attempting to surf and training for upcoming triathlons. Josh is passionate about the field of Exercise Physiology and is constantly amazed by the beneficial effects of exercise in the treatment of chronic health conditions. He is determined to empower his clients with the knowledge that exercise is medicine – without any side effects.

Heleena is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist. Heleena completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Business, followed by a Post-Graduate Diploma in Exercise Science. Heleena has furthered developed her knowledge of exercise prescription by attaining level 1 in Clinical Pilates.

Heleena is driven to improve the quality of life of her clients through exercise, with a special interest in those who are affected by neurological disorders. Heleena is continually developing her knowledge and skills in clinical rehabilitation and plans to specialise her skills to help those with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and other neurological disorders.

Heleena has represented Australia at the Junior World Championships in Kayaking and competed in netball, swimming and Surf Lifesaving at a State and National Level. Heleena’s personal sporting experience has influenced her passion for exercise and helping those in need of rehabilitation.

Peter is a highly qualified and experienced Clinical Exercise Physiologist specialising in Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation and Return to Performance.

Peter is experienced in working with a variety of clientele from elite professional athletes to elderly individuals. He has achieved great success in providing targeted solutions to suit an individual’s specific physical profile, thereby optimising their unique physical preparation, recovery and rehabilitation processes. Peter is also experienced in implementing return to work protocols (post injury), and working with various compensation and insurance companies.

Peter oversaw teams’ physical preparation and introduced pre-rehabilitation protocols. The team was successful in their campaign for the Japanese Top League Championship Title, with all team members remaining injury free. Before Peter’s intervention, the team suffered constant soft-tissue non-contact injuries.

Tom is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Exercise Scientist.

Tom represented QLD during his high school years in rugby league. He also represented the Under 20’s Gold Coast Titans (2010 -2011) and was part of Redcliffe Dolphins (2014) and premiership winning Burleigh Bears (2016) Intrust Super Cup teams. Tom’s love for rugby league has heavily influenced his passion for exercise and rehabilitation after coming back from 2 broken legs! Tom appreciates the time and effort required for successful rehabilitation and applies his knowledge and experience to help others use exercise as an effective treatment modality for rehabilitation, management of chronic conditions, sports performance, as well as general health and fitness.

Tom is dedicated to helping others achieve their goals to maximize their functional capacity and overall quality of life. Tom continues to develop his knowledge in order to stay up to date with the most recent evidence-based research including clinical rehabilitation, exercise prescription and sports performance.

Casey is a foodie with a passion for helping people and has over 10 years experience in the health industry. She completed her Bachelor of Health Science and Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2011 and has lived on the Tweed Coast for over 20 years. Casey has been working with the Club Active team for over 3 years to help clients get the best out of their bodies, minds and health.

Casey believes that every individual is unique and deserves a tailored solution guided by evidenced based nutritional science. Everyone has a story, and she loves using that story to create the most effective nutritional plan.

Casey loves all things chocolate, taking her child and fur child to the beach and travel adventures with her husband, not necessarily in that order!

Kellie is at the frontline of Club Active and prides herself on providing professional and efficient assistance to everyone that enters the club - with a reassuring smile!

Kellie has a passion for the health industry and a strong desire to help people. Kellie personally embraces a healthy lifestyle enjoying daily workouts, and loves to help promote the benefits of exercise and eating well with everyone around her. She has adopted many of the training philosophies encouraged here at Club Active and serves as a constant inspiration for others.

Tyler has been involved in the health and fitness industry for more than 6 years. Her love for fitness and the gym developed during her own journey on the path to a healthy life after having her 3rd child. Tyler has worked in a variety of gym and outdoor training environments and has developed a real love and passion for resistance training in particular. Her objective is to motivate others to find their own love for fitness and movement, whatever that may be for them.
